Jenni Yager was a clarinet player in the band from 1995-1999. Her husband, David, was also a trombone player during the same time frame in the band. Although they did not meet in band, band was a huge part of both of their lives. They both enjoy the many memories of great trips and still keep many of the same friends from the band. In 1998 they even had the marching band play at their wedding for the recessional.
Since then Jenni has graduated from UW in 2000 with her Masters in Teaching. Jenni went on to teach for four years in the Tukwila School District before the birth of their daughter Kaylyn. After the birth of their daughter, Jenni realized how much she loved the band and the opportunity to still play with the Alumni Band. She also wanted to see the band stay strong for many years to come. That is why she decided to join the board. She felt it was finally time to give back to an organization that gave so much to her.
Since then Jenni has left full time teaching to spend more time with her daughter, and instead enjoys a career of substitute teaching and tutoring. During her free time she likes to try new things. This year Jenni is learning ballet and tap dance (there’s a reason she was better suited for the band!) and is currently working on training for her first half marathon. Of course her favorite way to spend a Saturday afternoon is to cheer on the Dawgs at Husky Stadium.
